Overview
Wire and cable materials are the polymer compounds used for insulation, providing insulation and protection for electrical conductors to prevent current leakage, short circuits, and enable safe operation of electrical systems.
KYmach’s twin-screw extrusion systems produce high-performance cable compounds by precisely blending base resins, fillers, and additives. The materials are melted, homogenized, and chemically reacted in the extruder to produce consistent, high-quality granules, ready for insulation and jacketing processes in cable manufacturing.
Applications
- PVC Cable Compounds – Standard and flexible PVC for insulation and sheathing.
- PE Cable Compounds – Polyethylene-based materials for power and data cables.
- LSZH / HFFR Compounds – Low-smoke, halogen-free flame-retardant formulations.
- Crosslinked Cable Compounds – Peroxide or silane crosslinked materials for high-performance insulation.
- TPE / TPU Compounds – Thermoplastic elastomers for flexible cables and specialty applications.
Process Solutions：
Crosslinked Cable Compounds:
- Material Feeding – Raw materials are weighed and fed via loss-in-weight feeders to enable precise formulation.
- Twin-Screw Extrusion – Materials are melted, mixed, homogenized, and chemically reacted in the SK96 twin-screw extruder.
- Single-Screw Extrusion & Pelletizing – The compound is cooled and extruded through a SE250 single-screw extruder, followed by pelletizing.
- Post-Processing – Pellets are water-cooled, dewatered, dried, and stored before packaging.
Material Handling Modules:
- Feeding: Hopper with electric vibratory feeder, soft connection to maintain gravity feed.
- Pre-melting: Pre-melt tanks with insulated vessels and loss-in-weight monitoring.
- Twin-Screw Extruder Module: SK96 with high-torque motor, precise temperature control, and integrated cooling.
- Single-Screw Extruder Module: SE250 for cooling extrusion and pelletizing.
- Pelletizing & Post-Processing: Eccentric cutter, water bath, dewatering, fluidized bed drying, and storage silos.
