KYmach twin-screw extruders convert polyolefin powders like PP and PE into stable pellets via underwater pelletizing, enhancing storage, transport, and downstream processing efficiency.
Overview of Polyolefin Powder Pelletizing
Polyolefin production typically results in powders, which are prone to oxidation and degradation. Powdered PP and PE are difficult to store, transport, and process. Pelletizing these powders improves material stability, handling, and downstream application performance.
In powder pelletizing, polyolefin powders are combined with additives such as antioxidants and anti-aging agents. The mixture is then processed through a twin-screw extruder and pelletized underwater, producing uniform, stable pellets suitable for industrial applications.
Applications
Powder-to-pellet conversion of PP (polypropylene)
Powder-to-pellet conversion of PE (polyethylene)
Stabilization for storage, transport, and downstream processing
Process solution-Process Flow
Material Conveying and Metering
Powdered materials are transferred via vacuum or pneumatic conveying systems, then metered precisely to maintain formulation accuracy.
Material Feeding and Mixing
Powdered polyolefins and additives are fed into the twin-screw extruder, where melting, mixing, and homogenization occur.
Underwater Pelletizing
The molten mixture is pelletized underwater, enabling uniform particle size and high material stability.
Dehydration, Drying, and Packaging
Pellets are separated from water, dried, and weighed before vacuum packaging for storage and transport.
Process Flow Summary:
Material Conveying → Material Metering → Material Feeding → Mixing & Extrusion → Underwater Pelletizing → Dehydration & Drying → Weighing & Packaging
